What is an AI applicant tracking system (AI ATS)?
Definition
An AI applicant tracking system (AI ATS) is hiring software that manages candidates from application to offer and also uses AI inside that pipeline, for example to parse resumes, generate interview questions and summarize candidate evidence.
How it works
A traditional ATS stores applications and moves candidates through stages. An AI ATS adds AI at the points where recruiters spend manual effort: extracting structured data from CVs, drafting or summarizing job descriptions, generating role-relevant questions, bringing assessment results into the candidate record, and answering questions about the pipeline.
Why it matters
Candidates arrive in inconsistent formats, and evidence about them tends to live in separate tools. An AI ATS gives every candidate a comparable profile and keeps the evidence next to the pipeline, which makes screening faster and decisions easier to explain later.
Example
A recruiter uploads a batch of CVs. The AI ATS turns each into a structured profile, generates interview questions from the job description, and shows each candidate's assessment report beside their pipeline stage, so the shortlist discussion starts from the same evidence for everyone.
AuraSync's approach
The AuraSync ATS combines the hiring pipeline with an AI resume builder, job-description-driven question generation, assessments and AskAura. It can run as an organization's system of record or alongside the ATS it already uses, adding assessment results and explainable reports to the existing pipeline.
Limitations
Resume parsing can misread unusual layouts, and ranking by keywords can overlook capable candidates who describe their experience differently. Recruiters should check parsed profiles and treat any AI ranking as a starting point.
